Embrace the symbol of life and rebirth with the Sènou Ankh Ring.

Sènou means "Womb" in Bambara, a language spoken in Mali and across West Africa. This bold, handcrafted piece is shaped as the Ankh—the ancient Kemetic symbol of life, rebirth, and the sacred feminine.

More than just a piece of jewelry, the Sènou ring serves as a powerful reminder that life begins within the feminine. Cast in solid brass, it offers a timeless aesthetic that balances cultural heritage with modern edge. Its open-back design allows for easy adjustment, making it a versatile addition to any collection.

    Specifications:

    • Material: Solid Brass
    • Size: Adjustable (One size fits most)
    • Weight: 9g
    • Design: Inspired by West African culture and ancient Egyptian symbolism

Why We Love It: We love the profound meaning behind the Ankh combined with the practicality of an adjustable band. It makes a stunning statement piece on its own or pairs beautifully with other gold-toned rings for a layered, bohemian look.

    FAQs

    Q) How to take care of metal products?

    A) Brass/Copper care instructions

    • To clean any brass product, simply wipe it with a soft dry cloth.
    • To further clean, use the usual kitchen dish soap and rinse it under water.
    • Do not use a harsh scrubber, like the ones containing steel wool. Steel wool might scratch the surface. Use sponge instead.
    • Do not keep the brass product soaked. Simply wash it and then wipe any remaining water on it with a soft kitchen cloth/paper towel.
    • Pure Brass is prone to oxidation with time. If there appears to be any rusting/darkening of the surface:
      • Just rub any metal polish/shiner to make your product as good as new.
      • Another way is to take half a lemon, sprinkle some salt on it and rub the slice on the product and in a few seconds you will see it shining again.
    • Do not store salt in Brass Masala Box or Brass Storage Canisters. Salt can react with Brass. Also, avoid storing sour/acidic products in brass containers without tin coating.
    • It is NOT advisable to wash brass/bronze utensils in dish washer as these are delicate metals. Use dish washer at your own discretion.

    Q) Is brass safe for skin? Will it turn my skin green?

    A) Brass is perfectly safe for skin —and we only use nickel-free brass, which is gentler on sensitive skin. Our customers wear our pieces every day with no issues.

    Q) How do I care for my jewelry?

To keep your piece looking great:

    • Avoid water or directly spraying perfume on it
    • Store is in a dry place, preferable a pouch
    • Use a soft cloth and lemon to brighten it up whenever necessary

    Q) Are your bags waterproof?

    A) Our bags are made of burlap or jute which is a plant-based fabric. this means no, our bags are not waterproof. What we do provide though is a waterproof raincover if need be. If you plan to go hiking/ trekking/ roaming in the rain or under waterfalls then use a rain cover for protection.

    Q) I am vegan, I don't use leather - what are my options?

    A) If you are a vegan or simply don't like the look/ feel/ smell of leather, we hear ya. We are trying to find all-vegan options that aren't made of synthetics but that may take us a little while still. In the mean time, we do offer a synthetic leather option.

    Q) What is burlap, exactly?

    A) Burlap is also known as hessian or gunny. It comes from the jute plant and is a biodegradable material which in turn makes our bags eco-friendly.

    Q) How do I take care of my burlap bag?

    A) The best way to clean your burlap bag is to keep it clean! In the event of it getting filthy we suggest sending it to a dry cleaner. Do not put it in the washing machine it will disintegrate.

    Q) Do I need to pay VAT or customs fees?

    A) Yes. Since Kalaa ships from Norway (outside the EU), all orders to Sweden is considered imports. Customers are responsible for paying local import VAT (25%) and any customs fees. These charges are collected by the carrier when your order is delivered.
